as it clarifies and solidifies purpose.

Prayer is our will engaged;

Prayer is always hungry.
It can not be filled.
Never let go of praise.

Prayer is Sonlight reaching our soul.
It can be the slam of the sledge,
or as gentle as the rising tide.

Prayer unites the Church of Christ.
It unifies man and wife before God.
It can save our children from the abyss.

Prayer saturates.
It eradicates,
and educates.

Prayer prays for opportunity
to see death exchanged for Life
In love the scraps of trust reach the Creator.

Prayer cannot be wasted or lost.
Every seed is resplendent with life,
It's effervescent with good will.

Prayer is both faith and agony.
Warriors are tormented until answered.
It's the sustaining energy of the Redeemed.

Prayer is color blind.
It shames us for our prejudices
as it images Christ in our heart.

I tried some years back to say what prayer is. I am forwarding only
one-fifth of what I wrote. I enjoy rambling with words. It somehow fulfills
me. I thought about submitting it for the Eastview Blog but it isn't so
much a prayer as what is prayer. WM

Prayer
Prayer is the inexhaustible source
It is limitless in its scope -
God listening with infinite love.

Prayer is the language that loves to pray.
It is a spiritual blank check
Drawn on the boundless bank of God.

Prayer is an audience with our Master;
a consultation with the Great Physician
It's a conference at The Summit.

Prayer is the safest of great energies.
Novices can achieve joyous results,
taking the celestial highway to God.

Prayer bows our head and lifts our hearts.
As we kneel before Him on His dais.
It's humility before our Sovereign God.

Prayer is the pathway Jesus cleared.
He's listening, inundating us in His love.
It is God, pausing to examine our heart.

Prayer is the lighted torch of His love.
It permits us to live in the glow of His person
where we glimpse the Illuminator's heart.

Prayer cleanses us in our surroundings
as it expands our Spirit.
It is the purging of our soul.

Prayer permits us to view our role in life.
It it communion done at the best of times.
It is the finest, humbling-good we do.

Teach Me to Pray

Dear Lord,
You know my heart, and you know my desire to be more bold in my prayer life. Why do I struggle with praying out loud to you? Why do I stuggle with finding the words to say to you? I know that daily prayer and spending time with you DAILY is what will make me a stronger Christian, and that IS what I want in my life... So please give me the boldness I need, give me the words to say, overwhelm my heart with the desire to grow closer to YOU so that I will know Your voice and that I may be a light to others in my life. Remind me DAILY of your blessings in my life, Remind me DAILY of the sin in my life and the things in my life that are keeping me from being who YOU want me to be and please give me the courage to change them. Make me who You want me to be. I love you. Thank you for CHOOSING me.

Praising My God

I praise you God for your love, your mercy, your daily presence in my life,
and the calming peace you provide. Regardless of what life brings, you are
bigger and stonger than whatever challenge is before me. You alone are never

Prayer Watch in Morocco

I was a part of a team of 18 that just returned yesterday, Tuesday, October 30^th from Morocco, North Africa. We were to return on Sat. Oct. 27^th but God wasn’t finished with us yet. He had more to teach us about ourselves and those we could touch before we returned. We had gotten up at 3:00 a.m. to get to the airport by 4 so we could catch a 6:55 a.m. flight to return home after being in country for 8 days. Half had gotten their boarding passes and then they told us the flight was cancelled. After a long morning trying to reschedule flights we were finally told that we could not get flights until Monday and Tuesday. The team was very disappointed but we didn’t have a choice. We finally found a hotel and caught taxis’ and made our way to the hotel to camp for the next 3 days. At the end of the day several team members asked if I had some time to talk. They shared that after some discussion they realized that their focus had been all about themselves and the fact that they couldn’t go home. They realized that God had allowed us to stay for a reason and they needed to ask him what it was. This was about 9 that night and asked if I would mind if they organized an all night prayer watch. They would ask each team member to take a 30 minute time slot and ask God why we were there, to pray for the people of Morocco and specifically for Casablanca where we were at or what ever else He wanted to tell us. I was blown away by their request. It was awesome to see how God had melted their hearts and turned them tender enough to hear and respond to his leading.

6 of our team left on Monday morning and the other 12 of us had to move to another hotel before we left early Tuesday morning. That evening we all met out in the lobby of one of the floors and ate the food we bought for our supper. There was a couple from somewhere in Africa sitting on a couch near us by themselves. One of our team members asked me if she could invite them to join us for supper and I responded yes! They were quite appreciative to be asked and came with smiles on their faces. The gentleman spoke some English and told us they were from Cameroon Africa traveling to Frankfurt (which is where our connecting flight ended up being) to see family. We had a wonderful time loving on them, sharing our food and smiling when words weren’t enough. One of the gals packed up the rest of the food we had in a ziplock and gave them a care package for their journey. The next morning at the airport she came with the bag and can of Pringles! We were told it just may have been the only food they had all day. As I read the trip evaluations today it was one of the most written about highlights of the team’s trip. On the flight home I thought about the verse in Hebrews 13:2 that reads, “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” They may not have been angels, but they did help to minister to our team and help them see a greater need for our delay. We pray that some day that couple will connect with the God that provided for us and for them and helped us see Him in the midst of it.

Meditation on Praise

I don't know if this qualifies as a prayer or a meditation on praise. It's a song I wrote a few years back.

Sometimes words of praise are the hardest words to find;

They disappear before they can be spoken.

And all my good intentions to glorify my God

Come to nothing, and the silence is unbroken.

I ache to speak my joy in words of elegance and beauty,

That my gift might be worthy of my King,

But my lips begin to stammer with my clumsy, vain attempts,

And I find at last I can't say anything.

And all that's left to say is, "I praise You, Lord",
